Start Your Own Blog

Now that you have made up your mind to focus on your dreams to make money online, the next thing is to build your own blog. Yes, I said a blog not a website because of the following reasons.

• Blogs can be easily updated but websites are not
• Blogs are written in Chronological order
• Blogs are conversational in nature
• Blogs allow people to leave comments
• Blogs are good for search engine rankings because new contents are added frequently
• Blogs can be easily monetised

What is a blog?

Blog is derived from the words “Web blog” meaning an online diary or journal. So with this in mind I define a blog as a website which contains personal reflections and opinions on a particular subject matter authored by one or more persons.

Blogs are updated frequently either daily, weekly or monthly depending on your posting frequency.

Your blog gives you an opportunity to display your creativity and influence people. Your blog is an avenue to make your opinions known about a particular subject matter. Blogs connect people and foster friendships accross the globe.

With a very good blog, you can build an authority on a subject matter. Once your readers trust you, they get hooked to your blog.

I have an assignment for you and the assignment is this:   What do you want to blog about? What niche do you want to focus on? In the next post, we will be looking at how to set up a blog but before then, make sure you already know what niche to blog about because this might reflect in the URL you choose for your blog and in the name you give to your blog.
